During a winetasting weekend in Traben-Trarbach we saw this sign. I thought that this would give a nice touch to the garden. Therefor I made a picture of it and thought of making this myself.
What material do I require:
- Wood
– Black spray for outside
– paper
– Scissors
– garbage bag
– tape
As soon as the paper has been cut, tape this carefully on the wood.
Best to do this outside. When you have put the garbage bag below the wood. Spray the wood.
Carefully take off the paper from the wood and see how nice it has become.
Happy with this results it’s still hanging in the garden.
Every year there is a winefest ‘Open Winecellars’ in Traben-Trarbach. In 2024 it will be from the 9th until the 12th of May. Also yearly the 2nd weekend of July there is a Moselle wine festival in Traben Trarbach.
One of our favourite winehouses is Villa Huesgen and C.A. Haussmann. The location of Villa Huesgen is beautifull next to the Moselle. With a terrace on the riverside you can enjoy a good glass of wine. It doesn’t matter if you choose a bubbly Rielsing Sekt Brut ‘Mademoisselle’, Riesling ‘by the glass’ or Weisburgunder white wine they all taste really good!
When you cross the bridge you will find some more winehouses with cellars, but one of the other favourites is the Spätburgunder Trocken. Which comes close to a simular taste of Pinot Noir. At the winehouse of Haussmann you can have lunch or dinner as well in the garden.
I’ve stayed here in the hotel Vier Löwen, with a perfect view on the Moselle. Also if you can’t find a nice place to eat, this hotel has a restaurant as well and the food is really tasty. Also nice to stay is at the Caspari wine house. With the winefest you can see the wine cellars by tours organized when you sit on the terrace for a good tasting.
From Traben-Trarbach you can easily take a train to Koblenz or other villages along the Moselle. The trainride itself has stunning views. A place where I come back to every now and then (to get some wine).
