Travel
From Toronto you drive in 3 hours to Algonquin National Park. Before we entered the park we first got ourselves some groceries in Huntsville. Via the West Gate entrance we could already see a little bit of the park. The coming days we stay in an airbnb in Whitney.

Lodging
Our stay was in Whitney just outside the NP. We found ourselves an idealic place along the Galeairy Lake. A small house next to the main house with a significant view, from the terrace and option for outside dining. With fresh vegetables from the garden and a bbq we could make a delicious meal. The owners are the sweetest people and gave us some good information for our journey.
Food
If you don’t like to cook yourself you can always go to Mad Mushers at the end of the road. One of the owners of our Airbnb swears on the Mad Mushers Mac n’ Cheese, but we decided to take a Chef’s specialty.
Adventure
Before we went into the national park we got ourselves a permit for the vehicle to make use of the park. I was a bit anxious if we would come across a bear or moose, but I was lucky, we didn’t… Although I would have liked to see one, far away from us, where it couldn’t reach us. They say if you come close to a bear you have to stay still and don’t run. I actually have no idea what I will do, if I see one, hopefully nailed to the ground and that it passes me without any issues. So before we went, my friend wasn’t allowed to take any food with her or spray a parfum, just to make sure if we get in such a situation, there is nothing to find on us. Which costs us a lot of laughter before we went and which reminded me I am going to look more like my mom when the years pass by.

Mountainbiken
On the map of the park you can see an old railway trail. This trail you can enter at two places. We went for the place in the middle. At the Bike rental you could choose different bikes with small to very big tires. For an afternoon ride we paid for 2 bikes € 75,-.

Finally ready to go. It has a beautifull scenery. Due to it being an old railway road it was mainly flat. It rained the day before, so with some loose stones, water streams and beams it was an adventure.
Kayaking
We didn’t had the best weather, but when it was finally sunny we went for a small kayak tour. When you are experienced in kayaking you can kayak for km’s through Algonquin National Park.
